Clodgy Point beach is located just around the corner from Porthmeor beach. The beach is quite rugged with a mixture of large and some smaller rocks spread across the sweeping bay which goes as far as Clodgy Point.
If you stand and look across the cove to Clodgy Point in St Ives. It becomes hard to believe that if you were to look the other way, you will see have the Tate gallery and St Ives' main tourist beach. Just a short 5 minute walk takes you right into the wilds of West Cornwall.
Clodgy point is well know to climbers too and the multitude of boulders and faces on the foreshore around Clodgy Point have become very popular with experienced and novis climbers.
the term "Clodgy" comes from the Cornish 'klav' and 'ji', meaning 'sick house', and the remoteness of the point would have been considered ideal for the leper colony that was established here.
