Looe Island is also known as St George's Island, and historically was known as St Michael's Island. It is a small island just a mile off the mainland town of Looe.
Through the 17th and 18th centuries looe island was a popular haunt for smugglers trying to avoid the revenue cutters working out of Plymouth and Falmouth.
The island is now owned and managed by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and the island is open to the public during the summer months. The trust runs a boat to and from the island although at very low tides it is possible to get to the island's beach by foot, but its not possible to gain access on to the main part of the island or the visitor centre there.
The Calico Guest House purchased and installed these IP webcams to show you just how well positioned the property is and the stunning views you can expect during your stay at Calico.
