Manvers Lake was created in the 1990's following the closure of the Wath Main & Manvers Main colliery complex and associated railway yards. In additon to being a valuable recreational facility and nature reserve it serves as a balancing lake for the local urban drainage.
Manvers lake is a great recreational place to visit and there are often swimmers and model boat enthusiasts enjoying the water and many walker and runners love to travel through the grounds.
Manvers Lake has family friendly walking routes which join up with the Trans-Pennine Trail on the north side along the River Dearne. This place is ideal for nice walks and feeding the ducks and of course great for watersports to.
