Yarmouth is a town and port situated in the west of the Isle of Wight just off the outh coast of England. The town is named according to its location at the mouth of the small Western Yar river. Yarmouth town grew up near the to the river crossing which originally was a ferry, but was replaced with a road bridge in 1863.
A little bit of ineresting Yarmouth history - In 1784 most of Yarmouth's ancient charters were lost after a ship's captain who was drunk (intoxicated) following a court dinner, stole what he thought was a case of wine. But as he returned to his ship he discovered it was a case of books and just threw it all overboard.
