This live Dartmoor Webcam looks out across the playing fields which doubles as a helicopter landing pad and towards the moors in the distance and Dartmoor Prison can be seen to the far left of the picture and is illuminated all night.
When emergency services helicopters need to land here they can turn on the landing lights remotely during their approach.
Dartmoor is a vast moorland in the county of Devon, in southwest England and is classified as a National Park. Dartmoor ponies roam through the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and tors. There are old pathways and trails which wind through the valleys with Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses to be found along the way.
Princetown is home to the infamous Dartmoor Prison which was also used during the Napoleonic Wars.
