One of the most important ways the Italians celebrate Christmas is by using the Nativity crib scene. The act of using a crib to help tell the Christmas story was first made popular by St. Francis of Assisi in the year 1223.
The year before this he had visited Bethlehem and had saw the site where it was thought the stable that Jesus was born had existed.
During Christmas a great many Italian families have a Nativity crib in their homes as part of their Christmas decorations.
We hope you enjoy this snowy Christmas mountain village webcam from the Livigno ski resort in Italy.
