In Moravia, Christmas is a quiet, peaceful and religious time. People fast for one day, and have baked carp for Christmas dinner. St Nicholas visits of course, and brings gifts for the good children.
At midnight, most families here will go to Holy Mass and on Christmas Day, the churches are filled with evergreens and Christmas Trees.
The Advent period begins in the Czech Republic four Sundays before Christmas Eve. During this time, a wreath is made from evergreen branches joined together then decorated with ribbons and pinecones with four candles placed around it. Each of the candles represents one of the four weeks of the Advent period.
Children can have Advent calendars just like in the UK to count the days to Christmas Day. They open a window each day to find a festive picture and a piece of chocolate.
We hope you have enjoyed viewing this Christmas webcam and we wish you all a very Happy Christmas.
