Historical information about this webcam
Portreath Basin looks great in the summer time with the sun sparkling off the water and looks imoressive during the bad weather too with waves crashing against the barrier.
Although now decommissioned we hope to have a new basin webcam on line as soon as possible.
The name Portreath means "sandy cove" and in 1827 Portreath was described as Cornwall's most important port. In 1878 cholera broke out in the village causing the death of almost half the population.
