Connection Form

Before we can set up your account and stream your camera we need some information about it so we can program it into our media servers. Please fill out the form with as much information as you can, the more we have the faster we will be able to set you up and get your camera on line. If you are not sure about some of the information we are asking for then please take a look at the bottom of this page for a brief description of each of the things we need in order to stream your camera. Then fill out the form as fully as possible.

If we need any further information we will contact you on the email address you provide on the form.
 IP Camera or Encoder Box

An IP camera plugs straight in to your router or your network and has all the electronics for connecting to your network or the internet built inside it. An IP encoder is the IP box minus the camera so this enables you to plug a standard analogue camera into the encoder box and stream it without the use of a computer like an IP camera. For our purposes these are treated the same.
 Camera URL

This is the public address of the camera, not the local address. A local address is the set of numbers you use to connect to the camera on your Local Area Network (LAN) and will be something like:- 192.168.1.20. The public address is the address you would use from outside your network i.e. over the Internet to connect to the camera. You will have to program your router to open a port to the camera first and assistance with this can be found in our knowledge base section. Your public IP address can be a long set of up to four sets of 3 numbers, as an example 82.30.125.66 if you have a static public IP address. If you have a dynamic IP address then you can use a DNS name service to give a name to the IP address and then the name is updated with the new IP address when ever it changes automatically. All Camsecure IP cameras have this feature built in so you dont need a third party DNS name provider with Camsecure webcams. A DNS name you choose for the address for your camera can be anything you set up e.g. mycamera.com. Again check our knowledge base for more information on DNS set up.
 Port Number

This is the number that is opened up in your routers firewall to allow data from our servers to connect to your camera - and only your camera. This is the port that is forwarded to your camera in your router or as some routers call it a "pinhole". We need to have this open so our media servers can connect to your IP camera and this needs to be an RTSP port for IP cameras. This is commonly either port 554 or port 88 for many cameras - but you will need to check this for your own camera model if you are not using on of ours.
 RTSP Information

This is the data string which is used to ask the camera to deliver the video feed to the media servers. This "data string" can be very simple or quite complex and is just a list of symbols and characters possibly separated by the / symbol. If you cant find this in your camera's instruction manual then we can usually find it pretty quickly providing you can give us an accurate make and model of the camera you are using. But if you can find the RTSP URL then brilliant, that will help us get you on line even quicker.
Make and Model of your camera

Self explanetory really. If you can give us this it can help us to locate any additional information we may need.
 User Name and Password

We need a user name and password to access the camera to pull the video feed from it into our servers. This can be anything you like and its totally secure and not shown anywhere in the streaming process, its only used by the servers to access the feed. If you can also provide the main user name and password we can make any adjustments to the stream to ensure optimum results with your particular connection type and speed. Remember that if you change your password in the future, you must let us know so we can update the servers or they will be blocked from communicating with your camera and the stream will stop.
Email Address and Web Site Address

We need to contact you so we obviously need your email address. If you are putting your camera on your own web site then letting us know your web site URL will help us to white list your website with our servers.
USB Webcams and Mobile Phone Streaming

If you are streaming from a USB webcam or other computer connected device, even audio only broadcasts from a microphone, then you will need a software encoder to connect to our servers. We can provide a free encoder or you can use your own favourite encoder if you prefer. Tick the USB check box if you are using a USB, or other computer connected camera or sound source e.g. a capture card, sound card or PC microphone. If you intend to stream directly from a mobile device then we will contact you to let you know the best encoder for your particular mobile device.
