Historical information about this webcam
Scandinavian Village consists of 66 attractive time share / holiday
homes, with terraces and patios overlooking the private and landscaped grounds and the stunning views of the Cairngorms in Scotland UK.
Aviemore, is situated in the Cairngorms National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty with rugged mountains, heather-clad hills and fascinating lochs. To the East is the world famous Cairngorm Mountain Range. The Gaelic name for the Cairngorms is Am Monadh Ruadh (the Red Hills) due to the pink granite on the plateau.
However the name Cairn Gorm means Blue Mountain as the peak apparently looks blue from a distance. Cairn Gorm itself is 1245 metres high (4084 feet).
A "Munro" is a mountain rising to over 3000 feet above sea level and the Cairngorm Range boasts no fewer than 17 Munroes, including 5 out of the 6 highest mountains in Great Britain. On the West side the complex is flanked by the Monadhliath (or the Grey) Mountains, which sweep westwards to the shores of the world famous Loch Ness, home of the elusive Loch Ness Monster.
