Get a webcam like this for your own websiteThis live web cam views West from the NCI station at Prawle Point and is looking towards Bolt Head, the Range and the entrance to the beautiful Salcombe Harbour. There are lovely views to see here in all weather conditions with the sun glistening on the surface of the sea on a calm sunny day, to dramatic waves crashing on to the rocks during stormy weather. But what ever the conditions, the operators at this NCI station have their watchfull eye out to sea, ready to report any problems or emergencies that may arise. The sea is beautiful but can be a killer too.
Prawle Point is the most Southern extremity on the Devon coastline and this area has been used as a lookout point for many years, in fact from ancient times. The word "Prawle" is actually an old english work for "lookout".
The building thats in use at present at Prawle point was built in the 1860's - they certainley dont build them like they used to!
