The river deben passes through Woodbridge and then turns into a tidal estuary before entering the North Sea at Felixstowe which is where this live camera is situated. Here you can get aboard the Ferry which takes you from Felixstowe to Bawdsey.
This live webcam is a great tool for the members of the Felixstowe Coastwatch and views all around the North Beach and entrance to the river Deben.
The whole area around Felixstowe is filled with interesting historical landmarks and buildings. For example there are Tide mills at Woodbridge and these have operated off the tide from the river Deben since at least 1170. The present mill still in operation was built in 1793 and is still producing stone ground wholemeal flour in the good old traditional way
There are lots of sailing clubs and yacht harbours for those who like sailing too.
