How to use your IP Camera as a Security Camera

OK so you have installed your IP camera and you have got it streaming over your local network and maybe even over the internet. You
may even have used Internet Explorer to make a few recordings to your hard drive. But what happens when your not viewing it or when
your on holiday? You still need to record it then so you want to use it as a security camera.

There are a number of ways to do this. All Camsecure IP cameras are supplied with their own viewing and recording software which
allows you to set up a PC either locally to the camera or remotely, even in another country, so it can be used to view and record the
output from your IP camera. You simply set up the software and the motion detection etc. and the PC will record all activity from the
camera. You can even use the superb Active Webcam software which has every feature you could possible need. But what if you dont
want this? What if you cant leave a PC on all the time?. Well most Camsecure IP cameras have a built in FTP and Email system too.
This means you can get the IP camera to email you a snapshot image every time it detects movement. Not only that but certain
Camsecure IP cameras and IP Webservers also have a neat FTP image upload system which automatically creates a new folder on your
website (or anywhere else you send the images) for each day which is date stamped if the camera detects movement it automatically
uploads the images to these folders. This means you can have a constant record of all movement and activity seen by your camera then
you can retrieve at any time without the need to have your PC switched on. You can even view the emailed pictures on your mobile.

Setting Up Your IP Camera for Email and FTP

Go into the Admin/Configuration page of your IP camera and then into the email and FTP section. Enter the required information about your email account and FTP transfer.
Set up your motion detection for the camera picture taking care to avoid potential causes of nuissance alarms e.g. swaying bushes or tree branches, roads, blowing curtains
etc. When you are done, enable the motion detection feature and walk test it to ensure you receive your emailed images and check your FTP location too.

Retrieving The Images

Images sent to your email address can easily be viewed just by looking at the email. If you want to save the image then just use the save attatchments feature. If you are
going to be viewing the images using a mobile phone or other portable device be sure to set the image resolution to a suitable size for the device in the IP camera or
webservers display settings section.

To view the FTP images you can simply log on to your FTP server on your website, select the folder according to the date you want and all the images will be in there. You can download the images to your PC and then view them singly or in a slideshow or any way you prefer.
Using an IP Camera for security
can be accomplished 3 ways. You
can record streaaming video to a
